Poker Patience. "Court Series" 1910
Extremely unusual folding “Poker patience” set with a pack of “Little Duke“ cards. Made about 1910. Complete with outer sleeve and inner sleeve which opens out to reveal the slots for the cards.. Also included are two other near mint, gilt edged, decks of "Little Duke" cards in their original little boxes and the leather wallet that holds the two packs. Known as "Poker Patience!" the "Court Series" it was made by Messrs. Edward Mortimer of Halifax and London. The 16 page rule booklet was written by Charles Vidal Diehl who not only gives us the rules for several different patience games but advises us on some aspects of etiquette when playing the games, this one I love. "Bystanders offering advice to players or interfering with the conduct of the game may be called upon by card room committees to pay all the losses of the particular game which they have concerned themselves with"
When you've finished playing you just fold the card holder in half and slip it into its case, the whole thing would fit snugly into Bart Maverick's long tailed jacket pocket! Front and back covers of the rule book have come adrift but it is all there and overall the item is in very good condition with three packs of cards included. Postage incl UK only
