. This is a very early example of this game, which first appeared at the great exhibition of 1851. In 1884 J Jaques moved to Kirby Street from 102 Hatton gardens, so this set pre-dates that and could be as early as the 1860's. Although it is difficult to be precise there are three other reasons I believe this to be early. The quality of the card is quite rough compared to later version, the back design, although delicate and quite pretty, it is very unusual for this game, also, after 1885 packs were increased to 12 families of 4 instead of the 11 families X 4 of this set. All this makes this set not only extremely rare due to its age, but it is in fantastic, un-played with condition, with original rules and box, which has had some running repairs over the years as can be seen but is still sound.
