Playing Politics 1983 Double set
Double set specially commissioned by the V&A museum for the 1983 general election. The leaders of the four main parties are depicted on the aces: Conservatives Mrs Thatcher are spades. Labour are hearts with Michael Foot (no wonder they didn't win!) The Liberals are diamonds with David Steel and the SDP are clubs with Roy Jenkins. All the court cards represent senior MPs from the four parties including Geoffrey Howe, Dennis Healy, Cyril Smith and David Owen. And the jokers are "rivers of blood" Enoch Powell and the Rev Ian Paisley: The cards are still in their original wrappers with the box and explanation booklet. Individual cards pictured are from another set. Very hard to find mint double sets today.
