52 + 1 Extremely unusual and early Australian made deck of cards. There are no fraction registration marks indicating the maker so this deck pre-dates 1932 and is probably closer to 1900. As to the maker it could be any number of early makers, Thomas perhaps, or Sands and McDougall. Without doubt the most unusual things about them is the Ace of spades and the joker. The designs of the courts are also very interesting. I don’t like using the word “rare” as it has become so common on Ebay and elsewhere but in this instance no other word describes them. Box, flimsy as it originally was, is damaged and the cards have been used with a few small creases here and there, but hey! This is a very rare pack of early Australian made playing cards.
